Foodbank Recipe Challenge
Are you creative in the kitchen? We need your skills! Send in your recipe for a chance to win THREE BOTTLES of our lovely natural wines (one each of fizz, white and red – including home delivery!)
As you know, we have been contributing to Lewisham Foodbank for some time. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to being hit with a bill they neither expected nor budgeted for. A simple box of food makes a big difference. The foodbank mainly receives donations of in-date/non-perishable items, which is great. However, if you've never been taught how to cook, trying to pair ingredients to make something tasty can be difficult and frustrating.
So, we thought let’s spice things up a bit and get you guys to help! We are looking for inspiration on how to prepare the basic food parcel items in a simple way, with a creative outcome!
THE RULES
1. Choose from the following ingredients:
- Pasta/Rice/Noodles
- Long-Life milk
- Tinned beans
- Tinned meat
- Tinned vegetables
- Tinned fruit
2. You are allowed to add three other fresh ingredients from the following list:
- Vegetables: Potatoes, Carrots, Peas, Broccoli, Beans, Sweet Corn, Tomatoes, Cucumber, Spinach, Bell Peppers
- Meat: Pork, Chicken
- Fish: Sea Bass, Mackerel, Red Mullet
- Fruit: Apples, Banana, Cantaloupe Melon, Pears, Grapes, Strawberries
PLUS basic herbs and spices.
3. Keep in mind, the recipe needs to be easy to make.
4. Enter by submitting an image of your dish, the ingredient list and method via email to hello@161foodanddrink.com by October 8 2019. The winner will be announced on October 9 2019. Your wine will be delivered to you directly.
Terms & Conditions: You must be of legal drinking age to enter. UK entries only. By participating you agree that your images can be shared on our social media channels.
Reminder: there is also a permanent food donation box in 161! You are welcome to drop off your donations during our opening hours and we will be sure to get them to the foodbank for you.
