Happy News: Gardens Made Accessible

For those of us with green thumbs, gardening is almost always a ground-level activity. But what about those who face accessibility challenges? Enter the Elevated Garden. After Terry Garrett witnessed his brother lose the ability to pursue his passion of gardening after being diagnosed with Stage IV chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and being confined to a wheelchair, Terry took it upon himself to ensure that anyone who loves to garden can do so. Elevated Gardens are tabletop gardens that stand 30 inches tall – ideal for those in wheelchairs – and that are built on wheels, so they can be used indoors throughout the year.

Green Scene

Celebrating Excellence.

Last month, members of the Commerce Court property management team attended the annual BOMEX conference in St. John’s Newfoundland and brought home BOMA Canada’s coveted The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) award in the Historic Building category for 25 King Street West. QuadReal strives to exceed industry standards of environmental performance, tenant engagement and operational excellence, and we are honoured to have been recognized for our success in these areas. 25 King Street also received the local BOMA Toronto TOBY Award earlier this year and next year, will compete on the international stage in Philadelphia!

Wellness Tip of the Month.

From Commerce Court’s third quarter wellness seminar, Success in the Kitchen, here is a tip for those who are finding themselves too busy to make time in the kitchen:
Consider one of the many meal kit and farm bag programs available in Toronto. Delivered to your door, these programs take some of the stress (and time) out of meal planning and grocery shopping and allow you to focus on simple, healthy meal prep.
