Atrium, Monroe County Public Library
The Human Library is an event that aims to create dialogue and understanding between people. Individuals volunteer as Human Books and participants in the event become Readers by "borrowing" a Human Book and having a one-on-one twenty-minute conversation with the volunteer Human Book and share in a dialogue about that individual's experience. The Human Books are volunteers from all walks of life who have experienced discrimination and prejudices based on race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, occupation, cultural background, age, gender orientation, ethnicity, social status or lifestyle choices. The conversation takes place at the Monroe County Public Library in a safe and neutral space. The Human Library provides an opportunity for the community to share and understand the experiences of others in their community. All ages.

Please share with anyone you know who might be interested in applying to be a "Human Book" or if you are interested please apply yourself.  You can also participate by coming and reading one of our "Human Books".
