It has been a busy summer, friends! We have traveled many miles and have had the opportunity to meet and share with many over our home assignment time thus far.
Saturday night we had an unexpected event happen. Dan was drinking a cup of coffee Saturday night about 9:30 pm. He tried to put the mug down and his right hand wouldn’t work. He tried to tell me that something was wrong and could not speak words, he could only make noises. I thought he was joking, it turns out he was not! I finally said, “Are you ok?” and he said, “No!”.
We were at our friend’s the Erickson’s house in the Minneapolis area so we all hopped into the vehicle
and went to the Emergency Room where they were able to give him a medicine that helps if you catch a stroke in the first 3 hours. Dan went from the ER to ICU. CT Scans, MRI, and many other tests have
been done.
Here’s what we know:
Dan had a stroke and they have no idea why at this time.
He is having some spelling, speech, and fine motor
issues with his right hand.
He is improving and we are thankful for that, but he has a ways to go yet.
We will not be leaving to go back to Nigeria on October 7 as planned because we need to find out how Dan got a blood clot in the first place.
We will leave as soon as we have a treatment plan in place.
Here’s what you can do:
Please pray for our staff who is doing an awesome job while we are away and will need to continue
longer than expected because of this.
Pray that we have wisdom in what we do and in timing to go back to Nigeria.
Pray that Dan will heal quickly and in God’s timing.
We are very thankful that we were very close to a great hospital and Dan has received wonderful
care and is improving daily. We are also thankful for our wonderful Staff at GECHAAN!
