EUROTOX 2019 Helsinki - Great turnout
With more than 1,600 participants representing 63 nations, and 62 exhibitors from across the world, the EUROTOX Congress held September 8-11, 2019 in Helsinki was an absolute success.
Thank you to all congress participants, scientific partners, exhibitors, sponsors, and the local organising committee chaired by Prof. Kai Savolainen, and Dr. David Bell, for making this congress possible.
The congress took place in Finlandia Hall, a modern and a highly sophisticated venue, full of European history. "Toxicology - Science providing solutions" was the congress's theme, offering a scientific program dealing with new and emerging technologies, personalised medicine, and epidemiology of exposure to chemicals, as well as climate change and the modifying effects of the arctic environment.
The city of Helsinki City invited the congress delegates to a City Reception in the historic City Hall on Monday evening, while the Gala Dinner, organised at the Clarion hotel on Tuesday, included an entertainment musical act to kick off the fun-filled event, followed by hours of favourite dance tunes from the local DJ enticing guests to show their moves and party the night away.
Photos of the event have been posted on the congress website.

Former EUROTOX President continues to serve
Nancy Claude, former EUROTOX President (2010-2012), was elected during the Individual Member annual meeting in Helsinki, September 9, 2019. Nancy served as Individual Member deputy for two terms, and now takes over the role after Arturo Anadon, who served as EUROTOX individual Member delegate from 2014 to 2019, retired.
Nancy has been an active member of EUROTOX not only serving as President, and its various SubCommittee, but she was the Chair of the local organising committee (LOC) for the 2011 EUROTOX Paris congress.
Both Arturo and Nancy (picture on the left) have worked diligently to sponsor more than 60 new individual member applications over the last five years. EUROTOX has more than 200 individual members around the world. Most individual members are not affiliated to a European toxicology society, hence the title Individual Member. All scientists interested in toxicology are eligible to apply for EUROTOX Individual Membership. For more information about individual membership, visit the Individual Member section of the EUROTOX website.
