HAPPY FALL EQUINOX!

I'm so happy you're here. We welcome a new season today, and here in the Arizona desert we are enjoying a wonderful treat of rain and double-digit temperatures! Now that fall is officially here, it's time to pause, give yourself some quality time, and clear away the residue from a long, dry and dusty summer. Here are a few tips and tidbits to help prepare for a vibrant, radiant, joyful fall season!
Yours In Ayurveda,

Deborah

Ginger Lemongrass Soup
Even though the Autumnal Equinox signals the first day of fall, here in the desert we’re not quite ready to bring on the heavier, spicier fall mealtime ingredients… not just yet!  Temperatures are still very warm, and we still need to manage Pitta dosha, while gently transitioning into our Vata pacifying fall routines.

The fiery qualities of Pitta have been front and center over the summer, and now we need to gently cleanse the accumulated hot, sharp and acidic toxins from deep within our tissues before we shift toward the richer, heavier, comfort-foods that will keep us balanced and nourished for the coming fall season.

This super-easy and quick Ginger Lemongrass Soup has the right amount of cooling fennel, sweet carrots and swiss chard to make Pitta happy, while introducing digestive boosters ginger, lemongrass, black pepper and onion to make way for Vata season. I served this for lunch today with a simple baked sweet potato. Light. Balanced. Healing. Satisfying. Delicious!

                                              Ingredients (all organic)

                                              ½            Chopped Onion
                                              1 inch     Chopped Fresh Ginger
                                              2             Chopped Carrots
                                              ½ tsp      Black Pepper
