MRN News

Are you a migrant living in Newham, Tower Hamlets or Hackney?

Funded by Trust for London, we'll be running a migrant leadership programme in Newham, Tower Hamlets & Hackney. We want to work with migrants who can be leaders in their community, campaigning on issues they care about and that impact them. So if you or someone you know is interested, please forward this to them!

Are you passionate about the rights and experiences of the members of your community? Do you want to promote a positive narrative about migration?

We are seeking motivated and inspiring people living in East London to join us as volunteer Migrant Leaders

As a Migrant Leader you will:

  • Receiving expert training in community organising and campaigning
  • Be given the tools to collect the views and experiences of migrant communities, which will be used to shape local campaigns
  • Be supported to organise and mobilise members of local migrant communities to take action around common concerns
  • Meet and collaborate with other migrant leaders, campaigners and policy makers
  • Travel expenses and any other support to ensure participation

Know Your Rights – A Guide for Migrants

MRN is offering workshops to discuss the issues covered in its Know Your Rights – A Guide for Migrants. The guide aims to help migrants understand their rights and how to assert them in key areas of everyday life: banking, driving, education, employment, health, and housing. It has been written for all migrants living in the UK.

The workshop will cover the topics in the guide, and will foster a discussion to promote a wider community-level understanding of the hostile environment and to link migrant issues with racism, LGBTQ+ rights and other intersectional issues.

If you know anyone that has used the guide and would like to share feedback on it & how it has made an impact on their lives, or if you are a community group interested in a Know Your Rights workshop, please get in touch at london@migrantsrights.org.uk

SAVE THE DATE

The next London Network Meeting will be on 31 October 2019
