Summer is sadly departing and we are rushing headlong into autumn and preparations for the 2020 Connectathon Week that takes place March 23-27 at the perfectly-resourced Autoworld Centre, in the self-styled "Capital of Europe", Brussels.
The diary shows what is in store for the annual Europe-wide gathering that has grown exponentially out of the IHE-Europe Connectathon. It now encompasses a number of parallel events, taking full advantage of the Connectathon’s presence and the availability of 300 plus technical experts in interoperability from world-wide vendors, users and institutions.
• The IHE-Europe Connectathon is an annual event focussed on testing conformity to IHE Profiles using validators to show interoperability between systems following clinical workflows. Several thousand transactions are validated using test tools and peer testing in the Connectathon’s controlled, supervised and neutral environment. Registration date information will soon appear so keep a watchful eye here.
• Projectathons run concurrently during the Connectathon, they cover regional, national and international projects testing end-to-end interoperability using health data exchange in real deployment scenarios. Usually organised by user institutions keen to validate vendors side-by-side to ensure field interoperability is virtually faultless. Info on past Projectathons can be found here.

• March 24-25 sees the 4th IHE International World Summit, incorporating the IHE-Europe Symposium. The topic- Interoperability in eHealth - will connect stakeholder representatives and IHE enthusiasts, thought leaders on topics of international standards, interoperability, patient-centered care, information exchange and electronic health records. It will feature high-level keynote presentations, panel discussions and facilitate interaction with interoperability experts. For updates and details check here.

• The IHE mHealth Plugathon, supporting the Mobile Apps community with hands-on workshops, provides the opportunity for innovative Apps to be developed, tested and effectively approved on the fly during this two-day parallel event - March 25-26. Learn more about the educational track and watch for more opportunities. For updates info check here.

• Belgian eHealth Interoperability Day, taking place March 26, is dedicated to all healthcare actors, highlighting the importance and benefits of using international standards and IHE Profiles to ensure interoperability of IT Healthcare systems. Parallel sessions will be dedicated to hospitals, vendors, start-ups and software developers. Superb networking opportunities and VIP Connectathon Tours complete the package. For updates info check here.

• VIP Tours of Connectathon Floor, available March 24-26 to accompany the parallel events. Attendees see testing close up and witness the work of the 60+ IHE Monitors, experts in their own field, who play such a vital role in the Connectathon’s success.
Connectathon Week is a must attend event for anyone looking to learn about interoperability, increase their understanding or wanting to test interoperability credentials.
