JEFF COURTNEY LIVES OUT RACING DREAM THIS WEEKEND
BY COMPETING AT FAMED INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

RECSTUFF/KENDA Mercedes-AMG GT4 sports car ready for victory lane at Indy
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 28, 2020) – Jeff Courtney is like every racing driver around the world, dreaming of competing at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And this weekend (Oct. 1-3), the Milwaukee, Wis., racer will finally get that opportunity in the Pirelli GT4 America Sprint doubleheader races on the road course at the famed “Brickyard.”

Courtney and his RECSTUFF Racing team comes to Indianapolis for the 2020 SRO America road racing series finale after facing a four-month layoff in the spring and summer months due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

It’s been a trying year for all sports including the Pirelli GT4 America competitors with the big break in the racing schedule that forced many tripleheader weekends with three races per event.

Now, Courtney is excited to live a dream in competing at one of the most harrowed grounds in all of motorsports. Qualifying for the GT4 Sprint action at IMS is set for Thursday at 8 a.m. EDT with Race 1 scheduled for Thursday at 1:15 p.m. EDT and Race 2 on Friday at 12:35 p.m. EDT.

“I, of course, have been to Indy before but I have never actually raced on the track,” said Courtney, the 2018 GT4 Sprint Am class series champion. “So, I am really looking forward to that! I mean, it is Indy! So it just means something special. The ideal situation would be to win both races! Then play a round of below par golf at the Indy ‘Brickyard Crossing’ golf course and call it a season, LOL.”

Courtney knew the switch to the new machinery in 2020 might be a bit challenging, but the COVID-19 layoff also hurt the testing and development of the Mercedes-AMG race car. But now Jeff is ready to tackle the legendary “Brickyard” 2.439-mile, 13-turn road course.

“We have had a very up and down season and we are really looking forward to this event to hopefully end the season on a high note, and, of course, it would be cool to do it at Indy,” said Courtney.

Courtney is hoping everything returns to normal soon, both in the world and in motorsports. For this weekend at Indy, he’ll be concentrating on putting the No. 99 RecStuff.com/KENDA Mercedes-AM GT4 machine in victory lane and step to the top of the podium.

“The year 2020 has obviously been a very challenging year for everyone and we certainly hope the world can get this pandemic under control sooner than later,” Jeff said. “In my opinion, I think SRO along with other racing series and other sports have done a very good job of figuring how to continue on in a safe and reasonable manner. I certainly appreciate our sponsors and other team supporters helping us navigate this strange season.”
