😌 Hangout At The Hangar
Meditation for the masses is headed to the Mile High. The Big Quiet, a movement that hosts some of the largest sitting group meditations in the country, is bringing their unforgettable experience to The Hangar at Stanley Marketplace next month. Find your zen with hundreds of your neighbors at the massive space. There's no doubt you'll feel leaving refreshed, but you'll also leave with the meditation cushion you just used, plus some GT's Kombucha and smartwater.

🍩 Love Earth. Eat Donuts.
How do you reduce food waste? Make only what you need! That’s the concept behind Squeaky Little Wheel, an eco-conscious, better-for-you baker that has set up shop in Cheesman Park. The sweets are homemade to order with only whole-food ingredients and are free from dairy, eggs, animal products, soy, artificial colors, and artificial flavors. Waste is kept to a minimum from start to finish and all packaging is compostable and recyclable.

🤓 Nerd Out, Adrenaline Junkies
A brand new exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science digs into the science behind extreme outdoor sports. You’ll learn the “how” behind those crazy feats that are so damn fascinating to us Coloradans. And don’t worry — you can get in on the fun, too. It’s a hands-on exhibit, so get ready to test your balance on a slackline, virtually race some backcountry slopes, work your grip on some kid-sized climbing walls, and then shimmy into a portaledge hanging tent to doze off on a rockface.

🍺 Backcountry Brews
Upslope is headed to the backcountry again, and this weekend they’re popping up a taproom right there in the woods. There’s no better place to enjoy a cold brew, and, in the spirit of adventure, you’ll have to hike there to get it. This year, you’ll get to try their brand-new, limited-edition beer brewed exclusively for the event — a Double Dry-Hopped Pale Ale. And if you get there early enough, you’ll be able to nosh on pancake kebabs (we’re very intrigued) from Birch Benders while you wake up with Alpine Start coffee. All proceeds from your $15 ticket benefit Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.

🎿 Skiing Sans Traffic
CDOT’s Bustang allows skiers and boarders to save on gas and skip the hassle and frustration of traffic by offering weekend bus service from Union Station to certain ski areas. A-Basin and Loveland signed on earlier this year, offering roundtrip fares for $25. And just recently, Steamboat agreed to get in on the action this winter for a roundtrip fare of $40. Sure, it requires some planning, but it’ll be worth it to skip the stress and focus on the slopes.

🔶 Get In The Orange Zone
It seems like every time we turn around, another Orangetheory Fitness is opening up a high-energy fitness studio. They recently opened at S. Broadway and Alameda in the West Wash Park area, and they’ve got another location set to open in November in Cherry Creek in the former Hapa Sushi space at E. 2nd Ave. and Detroit. The group training workout uses heart rate-based training to work your endurance, strength, and power in one very sweaty hour.

☕️ Raise A Mug!
Every day is National Coffee Day to us, but this Sunday, September 29, it's official. Don't snooze on this opportunity to get out and discover a new neighborhood coffee shop. Want to see our pick of Denver's cafes and coffee dens? We've got your list right here, caffeine fiends.

🗣 Talk About It
We all have times when we don’t feel our best. There’s the physical, where you can’t help but show off scars, bumps, or bruises from your epic trail ultrarace. But there’s also the mental and emotional injuries, which all too often are kept to yourself. And while local healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente can help with stitches and splints, they’re determined to destigmatize mental health. If you’re struggling, they can connect you with support and help you access care — no referral necessary. Sometimes you just need to know someone’s there that cares; visit kp.org to learn more.

West Side Brewery Bike Loop
West Denver breweries love bikes almost as much as beer, so six of them head out together on the last Saturday of each month through the summer to enjoy a little of both. The fun rides meet at a different brewery each month and make stops along the way for a short pour at each brewery. This month’s, the final ride of the year, returns to WestFax Brewing and takes about 3.5 hours, ending with a free beer if you complete the entire loop!

Affordable Sammies
Save some coin without sacrificing quality. That’s the goal of a new deli and restaurant set to open in LoHi this October. During the day, Dimestore Delibar will offer a lineup of $10–$12 sandwiches made with house-smoked meat, as well as selling basic grocery staples. Open until midnight, Dimestore will morph into a full restaurant at night. Still focusing on affordable quality, the restaurant menu will include small plates for $12 and under alongside tap beer and cocktails.
HBD, Improper City Patio!
The patio at Improper City has been open one whole year, and they’re celebrating with a proper party! Drink, dance, and play all afternoon and evening long this Saturday. You’ll sip suds from Cerebral Brewing, Boulevard Brewing Company, Avery Brewing Company, Left Hand Brewing Company, and other local faves. Then, they’ll turn up the tunes so you can bust a move under the stars at the silent disco. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance — this party will sell out for sure.
