UEDA'S THIRD EMERGING TOPIC SERIES SESSION OF 2019
In partnership with Forward Community Investments and the Wisconsin Partnership for Housing Development, we will welcome Kristen Delegard and her colleague Kevin Ehrman-Solberg, of the Minneapolis-based research group,
Mapping Prejudice for our third Emerging Topic Series session of 2019.
Join us for a informational session around racial covenants and how they were
used by real estate developers in the 19th and 20th century to prevent people of color
from buying or occupying property in Hennepin County, Minneapolis. Delegard will also discuss how these covenants helped to remake the racial landscape of cities across the US, including Milwaukee.
We will also hear from the Milwaukee-area group, Divided by Design,
on their efforts to develop a school curriculum for middle and high school students
that teaches the history of segregation in this country.
Admission is free for current UEDA members.
