Threads of Silk
Did You Know...
The mulberry trees planted by the Duke of Milan proliferated the life of the silk worms, resulting in the silk industry in the north. This was immortalized by Leonardo DaVinci in a beautiful fresco painted on the walls and ceiling in Castello Sforzesco. The fresco was painted in the "Sala delle Asse" commissioned by the Duke. It was rediscovered later under wooden planks and has undergone multiple restorations. It is now open to the public with a wonderful multi-media experience commemorating Leonardo's anniversary.
