From the world’s leading designers to undiscovered brands, the 2019 designjunction show brought together the newest and most forward-thinking furniture, lighting & accessory designs at the first ever King’s Cross Design District during the London Design Festival. Now in its ninth year, the 2019 edition returned to London’s newest creative quarter to present more than 200 international design brands, hundreds of product launches, over 70 tempting pop-up shops, immersive installations and a series of thought-provoking talks and debates at the Everyman Cinema, King's Cross. Leading international names such as Very Good & Proper, Actiu, VirtA, Verpan, Beem, Engelbrechts, Friends & Founders and TON exhibited alongside emerging designers and brands that were located in The Canopy Area.

In addition to never-before-seen product launches, thought-provoking activations from designers such as multi-award winning British designer, Steuart Padwick, Lois O'Hara, Keech Design + Yamaha Design Studio popped up around the King's Cross district, engaging the public at every turn. Leading glassware brand LSA International partnered with Vitra, String and the Botanical Boys to transform part of Coal Drops Yard into a green urban oasis with The Greenhouse, an immersive shop concept celebrating sustainable living. For the first time, The King’s Cross Light Tunnel became an integral part of the show and home to the RADO Star Prize awards programme. The exclusive event held in the Light Tunnel, saw Rado and designjunction announce Huw Evans the winner of the third edition of the Rado Star Prize UK, who impressed the judges with his Concertina collection. Additionally, installations from Anglepoise and Haberdashery created mesmerising moments for commuters as they passed through the tunnel.

The Everyman Cinema hosted an engaging talks programme, curated by Grant Gibson, discussing thought-provoking topics such as dyslexia and design, wellness in the workspace and the future of British manufacturing.

Champalimaud Design's collaboration with Bill Amberg Print

Champalimaud Design unveiled their newest collaboration with Bill Amberg Leather during London Design Festival in an old railway arch in Coal Drops Yard. Along with a stellar line-up including Marcel Wanders, Calico Wallpaper, Solange Azagury-Partridge, Lisa Miller and Matthew Day Jackson, Champalimaud Design created a design that offers a modern take on leather decoration and which demonstrates the incredible possibilities of digitally-printed leather.

Named after a river in West London, ‘Crane’ is Champalimaud Design’s second design for Bill Amberg Print, and is inspired by the convergence of collaged shapes and the cadent reverberating ripples on water during a light rainfall. While the print is geometrically impactful, the colours are subdued – composed of shades of white, clay-toned greys, rust and soft oranges.

Continuing its tradition of hosting designer talks in it's exquisitely designed King's Road showroom for the past two London Design Festivals; for this year's show Silvera played host to an intimate talk with globally-acclaimed designer and architect Paola Navone.

Celebrating her ongoing relationship with renowned Italian design house, Baxter, Navone discussed the process behind the many number of iconic products and spaces which have been born out of her fifteen year collaboration with the brand.

Chaired by design editor Becky Sunshine, Navone looked back over her extraordinary career and the cultural influences that have shaped her work. Inspired by her travels all over the world, particularly to Asia and Africa, Navone is widely recognised as a global designer. Navone also delved into the themes explored in her recent book "Tham ma da: The Adventurous Interiors of Paola Navone", exploring how she incorporates 'Tham ma da', the Thai concept which takes something ordinary and presents it in a new and exciting way,  in her projects and design pieces.

As a stockist of Baxter furniture, including a number of pieces which Navone has designed for the brand, Silvera presented a never-before-seen Baxter showcase across its ground floor on the night.

Sé transforms its gallery with the UK debut of 'Below The Heavens' Part II and a Studio MTX Installation
www.se-collections.com
For The London Design Festival (14th-22nd September), luxury European design brand  transformed its gallery to showcase - for the first time in the UK -  'Below The Heavens' Part II designed by Ini Archibong. Alongside this debut, part of the Sé gallery has been transformed with an installation from architectural embroidery atelier Studio MTX - part of Chanel's 'Maison d'art'.

Throughout design week, and including The Brompton Design District late night opening, Sé invited its visitors to discover Part II's new earthly and monumental furniture and lighting pieces. On display for the first time since the Collection's launch during Milan Design Week, the highly anticipated sequel references, like its precursor, the eternal interplay between heaven and earth, this time focusing on a terrestrial aesthetic.

The LDF presentation sees Sé continue its close partnership with prestigious design ateliers Studio MTX and La Manufacture Cogolin. Evolving the window panel concept revealed during Milan Design Week, Sé reprised its collaboration with Paris-based Studio MTX to create an unmissable and immersive moment. The embroidered panels, exemplary of MTX’s artistry, are presented in three different design and finishes, all of which are exclusively available through Sé in the UK. Visitors also experienced new rugs from La Manufacture Cogolin's latest collection by Elliott Barnes which are exhibited together with a curated selection of artworks from artists such as Corine van Voorbergen, Studio Earle and Kiko Lopez.

The Gallery and showcase is still available to view at the Sé Showroom, 60 Fulham Rd, South Kensington, London SW3 6HH
