EPISODE 274

Last week's episode is a sunshine-y one. Recorded at the Emerge music festival, I've been eager to release it. London Kaye is a street artist based in LA. She's been featured everywhere from the NYT to NBC to billboards in Times Square, in this episode we talk about how she went from working at the Apple Store to crafting a creative career of something non-tech related.

I met fellow Michigander Marlee Grace years ago at her then store in Grand Rapids Have Company with my friend and former guest Abbey

I bought a zine from her about body image and started following her  instagram account where she danced. I kept up with her on the internet over the years and watched as her life grew and changed. She got divorced, wrote a couple books, moved to California, all while dancing and making things. We discuss all of this plus creativity, process, family, moving, routines, tattoos, friendship, and feeling feelings. Her work, her creative advising, and in particular her new book How to Not Always Be Working and her zine How a Photo and Video Sharing Social Networking Service Gave Me My Best Friends, True Love, A Beautiful Career, and Made Me Want to Die had a profound impact on me in 2018 so I was real excited to have her on the podcast to discuss them both, plus what’s next for her.

Listen – my skin is really sensitive so I don’t try out a lot of products, but I’ve been using Bioclarity and I’m excited they’re sponsoring. They’re a skin care company that is cruelty-free, paraben-free, and sulfate-free. It’s helped me a lot with the hyper pigmentation from acne scars.

Back in NYC and saw Maggie Rogers last night at Radio City Music Hall with my good buddy and we bought matching hats. it was pretty magical. I'm already nostalgic for it. Maggie on song writing and mental health.
