Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) Training

If you would like to help yourself, your friends and family, and your neighbors prepare for a disaster, consider taking the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) Training in South Waterfront.

Take this free training and learn about disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, search and rescue, how to use a FRS (Family Radio Service) radio, disaster psychology, and how to respond to a terrorist attack.

A training will be held on October 16, 23, 30, and November 6, 2019, in the Mirabella's Willamette Hall, 3550 SW Bond Ave., Portland, OR, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. each day. On a date to be arranged, there will also be a concluding half day field exercise at Portland Fire and Rescue training grounds, 4800 NE 122nd Ave., Portland.

In order to sign up for the training, visit www.portlandoregon.gov/net and scroll down to "How do I become a NET member?" and follow the steps. Once you complete these steps, you will be added to the list to receive notices about trainings. If you have completed these steps, you will automatically receive a sign-up notice for this October training in South Waterfront.

In the meantime, you can become an Affiliate of the South Waterfront NET that meets from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month in the Mirabella Park View Room, 3550 SW Bond Ave., Portland, OR

                         

Get Your Annual Flu Vaccine at OHSU

OHSU Family Medicine located on the 9th floor at the South Waterfront's Center for Health and Healing Building 1 will host a walk-in flu shot clinic Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 4:30 pm starting October 7th - November 8th. No appointment is required. Non-OHSU patients are welcome and most insurances are accepted. For more details, see this flyer
 

                         

Caruthers Park Brigade Is Looking for Volunteers

Thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of numerous South Waterfront residents, Elizabeth Caruthers Park and The South Waterfront Greenway have received much needed attention over the past few weeks. However, Caruthers Park Brigade is still looking for volunteers to help maintain both of these green spaces that are valued assets in our neighborhood. Halloween Fun at Portland Aerial Tram

You can wear your witch’s hat but leave the broomstick at home and let the Tram fly for you! There’ll be frightful and delightful family activities from 11 am to 3 pm, including games and Halloween arts and crafts for kids.

Enjoy the views from the Tram anytime between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. All crafts and activities are free and open to the public. Children age 6 and under ride the Tram free with a paying adult. See the Facebook event for more details.

Halloween Pet Trick or Treat in the South Waterfront

Wildwood Veterinary Clinic invites you to join them at their annual Howl-o-ween event on Saturday October 26  from 5 pm to 7 pm. Dress the pups up like goblins, mummies, witches, and werewolves for a pet costume with pawesome prizes!

Then go on a thrilling paw-rade around the neighborhood to pick up sweet treats from several local businesses like Three Paws Pet Supply, River Parkway Bistro, and more!
