Welcome to OTE

Corin Blust

It is with great pleasure that O’Toole-Ewald Art Associates, Inc. (OTE) announces that Corin Blust, formerly with 1STDIBS, has set up a permanent office in Miami for OTE, the nation’s most independent fine and decorative art firm.

Corin was Lead Specialist of Vintage & Antique Furniture and Fine Art for 1STDIBS, the international sales firm, supervising a design research team that oversaw 670,000 listings, and mediated disputes concerning inauthentic listings and damage claims. Prior to this position Corin played a role at the online firm in ensuring appropriate authentication documents and critical listings.

Corin’s professional experience also includes appraisal assignments at LOFTY.com and at Stefek’s Auctioneers & Appraisers, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. She returns to OTE where she originally served as a researcher in 2013, which is great news for both parties. Corin graduated from the University of Michigan with honors in 2009.

OTE’s newest national representative, an MFA graduate of Sotheby’s Institute of Art, was also teacher’s assistant in Art Market Research & Evaluation to Professors Tom McNulty and A.M. Richard, both of whom have both been closely associated with OTE over many decades.

OTE has for nearly 90 years served as an ethical voice in the appraisal field, providing reports on a variety of issues relating to both fine and decorative art, particularly those of high value or significance, for purposes of insurance, damage/loss, charitable contribution, equitable distribution, fair market value and complex valuation issues. OTE appraisers neither buy nor sell works of art, considering it a conflict of interest in providing objective and thoroughly researched reports according to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Home base for Corin, who is also a Spanish speaker, is Miami, while she will take onsite assignments as far as Palm Beach and Fort Myers. She is part of the larger OTE group of USA professional consultant/appraisers with eight representatives throughout Europe and one in Israel and a home office in Manhattan.
