2 - FRIDAY
It's time to RISE for Climate. We are looking at a significant threat to our food systems, public health, clean water, and clean air. Scientists state we have 10 years to halt the climate crisis. They claim that failing to do so will cause irreversible negative environmental impacts for our generation.

Communities across the globe are coming together rising for our climate. We rise for good clean jobs, clean air and water, healthy food and a sustainable environment.

Join us to celebrate everything that's left to be preserved, celebrate that technology has caught up to the challenge, celebrate the existing climate solutions and more importantly, celebrate our oh-so-close green future.

DATE & TIME & LOCATION:
FRIDAY, September 27th at 5-7pm
SLO Courthouse (1050 Monterey St. SLO).
This event is family friendly and will host a family play area, along with inspirational speakers, ways to take action now and a march through download SLO.

EVENT REMINDER:
This is a peaceful rally and march. The March is sidewalk only. Please adhere to all traffic laws and signals. Marchers who enter the streets do so at their own risk. Let's stay loud and let's stay focused - Climate Action Now!
3 - TUESDAY

The Cities of San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay joined Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) for service starting Jan 1, 2020. Over the past few months, Paso Robles, Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande and Pismo Beach have made it official (and whose service will start Jan 1, 2021).

Today, the County of SLO agendized the receipt of a cost analysis study about Community Choice for October 1st and we need to be there to show them we support adoption.

DATE & TIME & LOCATION:
TUESDAY, October 1st at 1:30pm
1055 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93408

ACTION REMINDER:
If you live in the county, please write your Board of Supervisors to let them know you want another choice for your power, like the rest of the county will soon enjoy.

Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) is a successful community choice energy program that is providing carbon free energy and savings to its members. Last year MBCP provided its members, local residents and businesses, a rebate of 3% based on PGE energy costs. In total, this rebate was over $4.4 million that went back into local economies.

As the fourth of our Climate Solutions Series events, the Tiny Footprint Expo may be the biggest! As part of our Zero Waste initiative, and in partnership with dozens of other organizations and businesses from around the region, this event promises to be fun and informative.

The first legal tiny house on wheels to move into a SLO City backyard was backed into its new home on August 13th. The tiny homeowner and yard homeowner are pioneers in a new program to improve access to affordable, sustainable housing by utilizing existing resources (city backyards).

SmartShare Housing Solutions partners with the City of San Luis Obispo and 33 other tiny house & sustainability organizations to bring you the Tiny Footprint Expo to help educate and inspire people about this new housing option! Join us to tour tiny homes and other alternative dwellings, learn from industry leaders in fun seminars, browse the vendor area, grab a snack from the food trucks, and help the efforts toward climate action!

The tiny living movement is sweeping the nation--come see inside these cute, cool dwellings and learn about the tiny lifestyle from a great lineup of speakers. From tinies to skoolies to vans and more, the Tiny Footprint Expo will expand your definition of 'home'!

The SLO Climate Coalition is looking to fill a deputy Task Force position for Outreach & Communications
This person (maybe you or someone you know?) would assist us in our efforts to engage the community via our website, emails (like this one), social media and traditional media too.

An ideal candidate would have basic knowledge of climate change and climate action practices, be a dynamic communicator, have a flexible schedule, be a self-starter and self-manager.

Email our Outreach task force member Justin Bradshaw to apply or get more info

The SLO Climate Coalition is an evolution of SLO Clean Energy, whose goal of Community Choice on the central coast is almost fully realized...
