WHAT'S NEW?

Audition Results:

The votes were very close! The top 4, in order of audition, were the following:
  • Cliff Downey - "This Nearly Was Mine" (South Pacific, 1958)
  • Richard Oshlag - "Puttin' on the Ritz" (Puttin' on the Ritz, 1930)
  • Natalie Jenkins - "The Way You Look Tonight" (Swing Time, 1936)
  • Ryan Lakanen - "Moon River" (Breakfast at Tiffany's, 1941)
I would still like to work in "Smile" somewhere in the program if I can. The audition with the most votes for that song was sung by Rebecca Zaloudek and Ginny Godwin. I will look over the program and the evening's schedule and let them know as soon as I can if it can work.

In addition, I will be giving the solo for the intro to "I Could Have Danced All Night" to Megan Neal.

Good job, guys! Let me know if you need any help preparing your solos. Be sure to run it through with Sandy once more before our dress rehearsal on Friday, October 18th, either before or at the end of a Monday rehearsal.
MAT and Raffle Tickets

Keep selling your tickets - both for the raffle and for Music at Twilight!  Remember, we need to sell half of the raffle tickets to break even after giving away the promised prizes and some to Houston High School. If we don't sell half - and we're not there yet - then we lose money instead of make it.

If you're out of leads for raffle tickets, you can turn in your unsold tickets on Monday. But don't forget that you can still point people to our website to purchase them! People need not be present at MAT to win, however leftover tickets will also be for sale at MAT before the drawing.

Tickets to Music at Twilight are $40. You received 4 tickets in your MAT packets to sell. These are also for sale on our website if you run out of tickets or just want to point people there. This ticket buys your guests access to the entire fundraiser - the concert, the live and silent auctions, the dinner catered by Taziki's, the BAR, and tons of fun!

Chorus member tickets are $15 if you wish to just pay for your food and don't mind where you end up sitting or sharing a seat. Depending on how many people attend, we may be able to have a table or two set aside for Chorus members back away from the stage area. If you want to be sure to have a dedicated seat for yourself alongside the rest of our (your) guests, then we ask that you purchase a regular $40 ticket.
If you have an account on Facebook:
We will have sign up sheets on Monday for how you can help with Music at Twilight.

Auction Items:
Last week's email gave you some ideas for auction items. Beth and Mimi are also working on putting together gift baskets to sell in the silent auction. (For those of you who don't know Mimi, she joined our soprano section this past Monday - I forgot to welcome her back!) These usually sell pretty well, as people will purchase them for birthdays, Christmas, etc.

The themes for baskets are:
  • April in Paris
  • Teen Spirit
  • Baby Girl
  • Baby Boy
  • For the Love of Fall
  • Romance
Just as with regular auction items, new items (or those that you really can't tell they're not new) are best. Mimi asked me to give you these ideas for baskets: gift cards (gift cards in general always SELL!), chocolate, baby items, wine and/or glassware, nuts, beauty items, holiday items, good coffee/tea, gourmet cookies/candy, mugs, candles, etc. All things that you would want to bid on!
