Vida Joven Youth Camp

Finally Back!

As you all might have wondered by now, it has been since March when I last sent out the newsletter for the Way Foundation. There are several reasons for this that I would like to take the time to share with you all.

The first reason is that, in June, Kim and I traveled with the Edmond mission group to Nicaragua. It was our first time back since the summer of 2017. We had the privilege of taking both our children and Kim’s mother on this trip. It was the first of it’s kind and took a lot of time planning and coordinating. We basically combined two trips into one. The first half of the trip we concentrated on building projects and the second half we hosted a youth camp. We had a wonderful time, saw old friends, and accomplished many goals. We look forward to continuing this format for trips in the future.

Another reason the newsletter is coming later in the year is because this past summer I was accepted into the Oklahoma City Police Academy. This was a big decision for our family and we had to make many important changes that took lots of time and energy. However, we are excited about the opportunities God has in store for us in this career. In the long run, I do not anticipate that this will affect my ability to work with the Way Foundation. In fact, based on the police work schedule, I hope to spend the same amount of time, if not more for the foundation. However, until I graduate from the academy (in April), I may not have as much time as I usually do. Thankfully, this will not affect any of the work currently going on in Nicaragua. And this leads me to my final reason.

We have been blessed with excellent brethren in Nicaragua that have helped us carry out the work of the Way Foundation for many years. Over the past few years, the Way Foundation has quickly grown in several areas of work in Nicaragua, specifically VBS and local missionaries (Pictured Above). We currently have 10 full-time missionaries working under the Way Foundation umbrella and we've been able to serve literally thousands of kids through VBS in the past few years. These are opportunities that we feel like God is continuing to bless with each passing year. So, in the coming months, we will be making several changes to our newsletter, website, and most importantly establishing a sister non-profit in Nicaragua. All of the changes will take some time for us to work through, but we believe that these changes will not only enrich the lives of our current scholarship students but also be a blessing for thousands of children and adults all through Nicaragua.

Thank You!

Finally, we ask you to pray for us and bear with us as we go through these “upgrades” in the coming months. As I mentioned before, we are NOT making any changes to the student scholarship program, we are only looking to improve the work we are currently doing. If you have any questions please let us know.

Blessings,

David Romero
