Advancing Implementation Science Speaker Series: NCI Updates and Priorities
Join NC TraCS and Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center on November 22 from 1-2pm EST in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, for the launch of their Implementation Science Speaker Series. Gila Neta, PhD, MPP, Program Officer in Implementation Science in the Office of the Director in the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), will be discussing NCI directions and priorities for advancing implementation science in cancer prevention and control.

Society of Behavioral Medicine 41st Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions

SBM is a vibrant, multidisciplinary society focused on the role of behavior in improving health. Intersection of Implementation Science and Quality Improvement, University of California at San Francisco
The UCSF Implementation Science Program's annual seminar series continues on Friday, October 25 (1-3pm) at Mission Hall in San Francisco, CA and also via online webinar. The fall seminar will explore the intersection between Quality Improvement/Improvement Science and Implementation Science. This is Part 1 of a two-part series.

Online Certificate in Implementation Science, University of California at San Francisco
This is a part-time program, offered during the fall, winter, and spring semesters, focused on theories and methods relevant to the design of strategies to facilitate uptake of health-related interventions. The courses and certificate program are designed for people from a broad range of professional settings who are currently engaged in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to promote and improve health and health care quality, including clinical and public health researchers, quality improvement officers, community-based clinic staff, public health and public policy practitioners, and clinicians.

Introduction to Implementation Science Short Course, APHA Learning Institute
This all-day workshop, held November 3 in Philadelphia, is offered by the Learning Institute of the APHA 2019 Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association and organized by the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute. The purpose of this course is to provide participants with an orientation to implementation science.

Fellowships
Durham VA Quality Scholars Fellowship
The VA Quality Scholars Program is a two-year fellowship which uses a unique interdisciplinary approach that applies advanced quality improvement, clinical and research approaches to improve health care delivery systems and patient outcomes. The program is built around four main areas of focus: quality improvement practice, implementation science, informatics, and statistical methodology.
 
Priority will be given to applications received by November 1.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Mental Health Research and Treatment, Central Arkansas Veterans’ Healthcare System
The Central Arkansas Veterans’ Healthcare System in Little Rock, AR invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in mental health research and treatment. Fellows will have opportunities for collaboration and mentoring with national leaders to develop a research career in a wide variety of research topics, including implementation science, telehealth, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance use disorders, suicide prevention, primary care mental health integration, and health services research on access and quality of mental healthcare.

Global HIV Implementation Science Research Training Fellowship
With support from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, ICAP at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health has established the Global HIV Implementation Science Research Training Fellowship to prepare pre- and post-doctoral individuals for careers as independently-funded researchers and for leadership in global HIV implementation research. This fellowship is part of ICAP’s Next Generation Program, a multidisciplinary training initiative that provides students with hands-on training opportunities in New York and around the world.

The intent of this limited PFA is to move evidence developed with PCORI research funding toward practical use in improving health care and health outcomes. PCORI will fund projects that aim to implement patient-centered clinical comparative effectiveness research (CER) results obtained from PCORI-funded studies in decision-making settings, and, in selected cases, projects that focus on the dissemination of these findings. This limited PFA gives PCORI investigators the opportunity—following the generation of results from their PCORI-funded research award—to propose the next step(s) for making their research results more useful, actionable, accessible, and available to targeted end-users of these findings.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support innovative approaches to identifying, understanding, and developing strategies for overcoming barriers to the adoption, adaptation, integration, scale-up and sustainability of evidence-based interventions, tools, policies, and guidelines.
