Usted cuenta.  Cuenta en ser contada. You Count. Count on Being Counted--the US Census is happening in the upcoming months and the stakes are extremely high as the census count will be used for the next ten years to decide:

  • the impacts on political boundaries and districting;

  • how many seats in Congress MN will be apportioned;

  • billions of dollars to state and local governments,

  • and to guide decision-making affecting schools, housing, health care services, business investment, and so much more.

* Taken from the article below, Latinos in the 2020 Census.
Since 1790, the United States census happens every ten years as requred by the Constitution.  This is a count of how many people are living in the US at that time--whether you are a formal citizen of the United States or another country, whether you were born and raised here or in another country, whether you are one hundred days old or one hundred years old.

Justifiable fear of private information being shared--either at the individual level or large scale sharing impedes many in our community from completing the census and thus many members of the Chicanx and Latinx communities locally, regionally and nationally are undercounted with significant political, social and financial consequences.

 Know that the census does NOT ask about immigration or citizenship status, social security number, green card number or any document that would idenify you as being you.  The goal is to just know how many people are living in the United States.

For the first time, it will be possible to  fill out the census form
  • On-line
  • On the phone
  • In person
  • At a neighborhood center
It is of utmost importance that we are all counted. Please click on any or all the options below for more information and/or to get involved!

Puentes: "Te amo, te quiero"

The third season of Border CrosSing's Puentes concerts comes to an intimate, but fiery close at the end of this month with an a cappella program of tangos, boleros, zambas, habaneras, and gorgeous choral settings of love poetry by Latin American writers. Don't miss the opportunity to hear Border CrosSing's 16-voice core ensemble perform works by composers and arrangers beloved throughout Latin America and rarely heard in the United States.

All  Puentes concerts are accessible on a pay-as-able basis the day of the event. No ticket is required for entry, but attendees are welcome to purchase a ticket at a suggested price to support our work.
