Join us for Chew on This! on Parliament Hill!

Calling all members in Ottawa and Gatineau!

On October 17, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, CPJ and our partners in the Dignity for All campaign will be gathering on Parliament Hill to send a message to our next government that it's time to end poverty in Canada!

Chew on This! is Canada's largest anti-poverty campaign with over 100 events taking place across the country. If you're participating in one of these events, great! If not, please consider joining us at our event on Parliament Hill!

Event Details

When: Thursday, October 17 at 12pm (noon)

Where: Meet on steps of Parliament Hill for photo op, then disburse to distribute materials in the surrounding area

Why: To demonstrate our commitment to ending poverty in Canada and to demand a similar commitment from our next government
We would love to gather a large group of volunteers for our photo on the steps of Parliament Hill! Local federal candidates and municipal elected officials have also been invited to attend.

Following the photo, we will be dispersing to nearby streets to pass out paper bags with an apple, a Chew on This! magnet, and a post card addressed to the Prime Minister calling on them to demonstrate their commitment to ending poverty in Canada by choosing rights-based policies and making poverty eradication a budget priority in 2020.

Whether you can come for 5 minutes or 50, we'd love to have you join us! You can RSVP or just show up - and consider bringing friends! CPJ staff will be on hand to answer any questions and offer support. We hope to see you there!
