CLS' faculty Jessica Lopez Lyman on the Frontlines of Climate Change Resistance
Women are typically on the front lines of the fight for environmental justice around the world. In Minnesota, indigenous women have been leading efforts for native sovereignty, for protection of land and water, for climate justice, and for the recognition and recovery of missing and murdered indigenous women. Engaging with this work is a key aspect of reorienting the University of Minnesota and the larger community towards decolonization efforts.
We are excited to welcome and announce that Ph.D student in history will teach the spring 2020 Chicana and Chicano History II: WWII, El Movimiento, and the New Millenium. There will be a longer piece in the spring, but here is a little bit about Adrian.

La Raza Latinx Student Cultural Center and LISA -Latino International student organization present TONIGHT from 6pm-9pm-- do you like fashion, music, photos, dancing, and food?
Organizing Corps 2020 is recruiting and training the next generation of Democratic organizers for the general election, and giving students an opportunity to maximize their spring break by attending an in-state organizing bootcamp, running from March 9 - 15, 2020 at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Students who join will earn a $500 travel and living stipend while learning the ins-and-outs of organizing throughout this week. Students who successfully complete this program will, upon graduation, be recommended for hire on the 2020 Democratic Presidential campaign.
Graduate Assistant Opening for Spring 2020, Cooperative Agua Gorda
Expanding Local Food Access - Job ID 334147
Cooperativa Agua Gorda is a farm coop created to supply organic produce and provide access to healthy, local food for area residents, schools, and other institutions. The graduate student will work with the project team to carry out a thorough market analysis for Cooperativa Agua Gorda’s local produce and develop a marketing plan identifying opportunities for establishing and growing business partnerships and outlining network opportunities across Central Minnesota. The student position will include occasional travel to and meetings at the project partner site in Long Prairie (expenses reimbursed). English & Spanish proficiency is required. Preferred backgrounds include Applied Economics, Marketing, Business with an interest in small farms and agriculture.
Latinx Centered Opportunities with National Student Exchange
Exchange to another school in the U.S., Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands for a summer, semester, or year. There are 165 campuses to choose from, including HSIs (Hispanic Serving Institutions) in the US, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Most students pay U of M tuition, or less, receive financial aid, and NSE credits easily transfer back to the U of M. Some credits might be transerable towards a CLS major or minor. Final applications due Feb. 2020.
