A LEARNING OPPORTUNITY - BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH

NIAGARA FALLS, ON - The Niagara Falls Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) will be hosting the 5th Annual Niagara Student Summit on Thursday, October 17th from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at Brock University.

This exciting outside of the classroom learning experience is organized by the Niagara Falls Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee for students from across the region. This project is planned and implemented by high school students for high school students.

Approximately 250 high school students from across the region have registered to take part in this inspiring day.

Sessions Topics are organized into three categories:
  1. Life Skills
  2. Personal Well Being
  3. Life After High School

A Sample of the Session Topics:

  • How to turn your Social Media into Job Media
  • The Art of Public Speaking
  • Time Management and Study Habits
  • Adulting 101
  • Taking care of yourself with essential oils
  • Expression (a song writing workshop)
  • Mental Awareness and Meditation
  • Happiness Strategies and Laughter Yoga
  • Women in Non-Traditional Roles
  • Preparing for a career in health care
  • Emerging Industries in Niagara and Pathways to Apprenticeship Occupations

DETAILS
When: Thursday, October 17th, 2019
Where: Brock University
Who: The Summit is open to ALL high school students in the Niagara Region.
Cost: $20.00 including HST per participant including lunch.

Keynote Speaker Joel Hilchey will be sure to kick off the day with a bang, or maybe the snap of a mouse trap, to inspire students for a great day of learning.

Lunch and learn is a new opportunity offered this year. Students can grab their lunch and join a table with a professional or peer of their choice for some casual conversation.

Students are sure to leave with some new knowledge and some new swag.
