Woodland Hills Library October Events
October 2019
Here's our calendar for this month. We're hoping it's all accurate. Please note the LADOT Team has changed to the 4th Monday of the month and the Woodland Hills Produce Exchange is now the 4th Saturday of the month unless it conflicts with a book sale.
Also, if you haven't had the pleasure of hearing the Old Time Music group, they are meeting the 2nd and 4th Thursdays starting at 5 pm. This is a group of really good musicians playing great music. Think "grass roots of Bluegrass." They're really terrific. They won't be meeting on October 24th but other than that date and Thanksgiving and, of course, book sale dates, they'll be here for as long as we can keep 'em.
Calling all crafters:
For teens we have a great series of programs with Perler Beads garden creations and yummy Halloween treats along with an adult and family Halloween craft coming up at the end of the month.
Join us! It's always fun and informative at the library!

Rejuvenations Monday
Ongoing
9:15 -- 10;15 AM
$5.00
This class uses a combination of Chi Gong exercises and Tai Chi fundamentals to activate and open internal energy channels to promote and enhance energy circulation and cultivation.
Chi Gong translates to "Energy Work" or "Energy Method".
The physical effects of aging and daily stress are minimized, retarded, and -- with practice -- reversed.
This class is focused on internal energetics and can also be a useful supplement to the study and practice of Tai Chi.
About the Instructor:
Frier McCollister has studied and practiced the Yang Long Form of Tai Chi for 20 years.
He studied initially under Sifu Gina Bari and then with Grandmaster Kai Ying Tung and Master Chenwai Tung. He has also studied Energy Gates Chi Gong, Bagua, and Tui Na with B.K. Frantziz and his senior students.

Tai Chi Thursdays
Ongoing
9:15 AM -- 10:15 AM
$5.00
This class presents the Yang Long Form style as a comprehensive, full-body, zero-impact exercise protocol that ultimately activates internal energy circulation. Most immediately, muscle reflexes become more acute and physical balance is stabilized. With practice, the immune system is bolstered and core energy reserves are positively enhanced.
While not taught as a martial art form, martial applications are used as learning tools for the form.
Extra time is available for motivated students.

Senior Companion Program
Ongoing
The Senior Companion Program recruits active, fixed income seniors to assist other seniors in their homes.
The goals of the program are two-fold:
(1) to help seniors live as independently as possible.
(2) to provide fixed income seniors with a meaningful service opportunity and a modest source of income.
Senior Companion volunteers assist with activities of daily living such as shopping, preparing meals, running errands, and providing companionship to alleviate the loneliness that so many homebound seniors experience.
For more information, please click here or contact Henry Sotelo at 909.621.9900 x222.
