Making Headlines: Off-campus Travel Programs

Hi Parents!

Online registration for all 2019-2020 off-campus travel programs is now live! We have a great selection of trips proposed this year; the faculty have worked hard to develop trips that enhance the work we do on campus and that are fun, safe, and stimulating. Please note that in completing registration, your child will have applied to participate on the trip. Enrollment in a trip is not automatic and is contingent upon numbers of students, payment, and possibly, language readiness (in the case of language trips). All payments will need to go through Mary Canniff in our business office. Despite having a "payment" page on the online registration, there is no option to pay online; please pay by check or your child's grill account. We ask that you pay a deposit upon registering. You'll receive an email at a later date with the balance. Trip leaders will be in touch regarding airfare and any trip-specific paperwork; please direct any transportation questions to them. Below is the link to registration (your students have received the same link) as well as the trips (with trip leader's name) for which registration is currently available. Registration for our January athletic trips (Girls' hockey and Skiing) will be available once those teams have finalized their varsity rosters.

A final note: Safety is paramount on all trips. We work, months in advance, to ensure that each trip itinerary satisfies the high safety standards to which we here at Middlesex are accustomed. Trip faculty will complete a pre-trip risk management workshop and they will be equipped with the necessary paperwork and contact information during the trip in the event that they need outside assistance.  Traveling is a great opportunity to develop friendships and empathy, apply skills that are learned in the classroom and have fun! Should you have any questions during the registration process, please don't hesitate to contact me: rmunro@mxschool.edu

Thank you!

Announcements & Reminders

  • From the Director of Multicultural & Community Development, Pascale Musto
This fall the Middlesex community service program continues partnering with Heading Home, a Boston-based nonprofit that moves homeless families into permanent housing through a program called Up-and-Out moves.  Middlesex volunteers collect furniture and other home goods, and then move these items and the family into their new residence.  On move-in day, after the group has finished setting up the apartment, the family arrives, and the Middlesex volunteers have a chance to greet them as they walk into their new home for the first time.  It is a rewarding experience for all.  You can get involved and support this effort by clicking here to access the family’s Amazon gift registry and select items to outfit their new home.  The items will be shipped to Middlesex and then assembled at the home on November 3rd.  Thank you in advance to all the Middlesex families who have and will support this worthy cause!

  • From the Health Center:

An important way to prevent illness throughout the winter and spring is by getting vaccinated against the influenza virus.  For those students living in a dormitory setting it is particularly important to prevent the spread of the influenza virus by receiving the vaccine.

Influenza vaccinations will be provided by Rite Aid/Walgreens Pharmacy and available at Middlesex on the following days:

    Monday, Oct 7th 5-7:30
    Tuesday, Oct 15th 11:30-1
    Thursday, Oct 17th 11:30-1

Rite Aid/Walgreens Pharmacy will need a signed consent which can be found on the Magnus Health Portal.  Please sign into the portal to answer some questions related to your child’s medical history and provide an electronic signature. Rite Aid/Walgreens will submit a claim to your insurance for the cost of the vaccination and will bill you directly for any associated co-payment.

We very much encourage all students to be vaccinated but be sure to read the attached Vaccine Information Sheet to understand the risks and benefits of the vaccine before signing a consent.

Please be aware that signing the consent form does not guarantee that your child will be vaccinated.  They must attend one of the following vaccination clinics and they must be healthy in order to receive a vaccine.
