Meet Associate Professor of Teacher Education Beth Dorman, named the 2019-20 Featured Scholar for her research into contemplative education and the practice of weaving mindfulness into the classroom to improve teaching and learning. 
The Fort Lewis College Board of Trustees has approved a new mission statement guiding the school that drops the words liberal arts, but captures the essence of what it means to be a liberal arts institution.

The campus outdoor amphitheater has been renamed the Joe & Clela Busby Amphitheater in honor of the family’s establishing a scholarship fund and donating to the construction of a new Health Sciences Center on campus.
FLC joined more than 60 businesses and organizations in Durango in signing the City of Durango’s Civility First Pledge, a program to encourage businesses, organizations, and individuals to model civil behavior and promote respect for all residents and visitors.
Professor of Biology Heidi Steltzer has been getting national attention, including a profile in Phys.org, for her research on the effects of climate change on mountain snowpacks since her chapter on the subject was released as part of the new report from the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Eligible Colorado residents whose family income is $60,000 or less are now eligible to attend FLC tuition-free now under the new FLC Tuition Promise grant.
Some topics demand learners be willing to cross borders, both literally and figuratively, to really grasp the issues involved. Northward migration toward and into the United States is just such a topic, as nine students learned this past summer.
