Happy Holidays From DCMP!

DCMP holiday card
Image description: Close-up of a comic book panel atop a tartan tablecloth. On a snowy sidewalk, a rotund cartoon animal with a pointy snout and long ears wears a coat, bowler, muffler, and spats on his shoes. He holds two bags, one with a symbol for captioning, the other a symbol for description. He faces away from, but turns his head toward, a smaller character wearing a flat cap, threadbare jacket, and patched pants and muffler. In a word balloon, he says, "But Mr. Scrooge! Accessibility is for everyone!" A gift tag lays over the edge of the page, with the words, "Happy Holidays from DCMP."

December 9: Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day

Two people stand in a street wearing Victorian era garb among modern day people and cars.

Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day is a great time to add some fun and context to classroom lessons! Here are some suggestions for how you and your students can spend the day:
  • Dress up and pretend you are a person or character from your favorite time period.
  • Conduct your class as if it's a different time in history.
  • Pretend to be historical characters from the time period of the day's educational topic.
  • Bring snacks from a different era, such as Cracker Jacks, potato candy, hardtack, honey cakes, or even gruel!
If you take photos, please share them with us. Our email address is info@dcmp.org. If you post them online, remember to add the hashtag #PretendToBeATimeTravelerDay and tag our social media accounts.
