Stacy Jupiter, Regional Director for WCS Melanesia, Named a 2019 MacArthur Fellow!
"Stacy joined WCS 11 years ago and has grown into a leader on our highly effective Global Marine Program. She is director of our Melanesia Regional Program in the Pacific with a focus on Fiji, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea."
“Stacy is a champion for the world’s ocean, using science to develop pragmatic solutions for wildlife, people and coastal ecosystems. What makes Stacy a great scientist and conservationist is her understanding of the importance of integrating cultural practices and science to solve complex problems, specifically the challenges brought on by such threats as overfishing and climate change. And what makes her successful and loved by those who work with her is that she understands more than most the importance of collaboration with her colleagues and with the communities where she works." - Dr. John Robinson, WCS’s Executive Vice President for Conservation and Science.
This month’s Career Lattice in Action features Ricky Downes! Ricky first began working at WCS in 2017 as an Associate in Merchandise at the Bronx Zoo. The following summer, he was promoted to a Team Leader; in this role, he helped to oversee the Asia, Africa, and Congo gift shops. With the return of the popular Dinosaur Safari exhibit to Bronx Zoo, and fueled by his theatrical background, Ricky was thrilled to become a Dino Narrator in 2019. If you're in the Dino Safari area, keep an ear out for his animated narration. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Ricky!
