I am so grateful to all who were praying for my trip to India a few days ago. God answered in a miraculous way to give me favor in the eyes of immigration officials. I was questioned for nearly an hour, but in the end they said that there was no problem and that this was just their process, which seemed to imply that there wouldn't be any further problem related to the "suspicion" flag in my file.
Looking Back
- I had a great week back in my old stomping grounds getting caught up with different partner leaders and old friends and colleagues. We made good progress working through various issues and budget matters on the renewal of two big projects, but there is still a lot to do that will stretch out over the coming weeks.
- After successfully entering into India on Thursday evening I spent one very short night in Calcutta before traveling north to Gangtok, the capital of the former Kingdom, now state, of Sikkim. It is a beautiful town built for many miles along a steep hillside. I was able to have dinner with an old Limbu friend who was the main reference I'd given to immigration, but mostly this excursion to the hills has just been a quiet gap in my program that was necessary because of the border uncertainties.

It was hard work getting here--the 4 hour journey took 8 because of heavy holiday traffic jams.

Looking Ahead
- Tomorrow, hopefully after I get to explore the hills around here by bike, I'll return down to the hotter plains for a week of planning meetings. Please pray for abundant wisdom as I guide and work with partners in this process. Pray too that I might be able to resolve some computer issues so that I can effectively work.
- In a few hours Caleb and Luke will be stepping on a plane in Seattle to come meet me in Nepal for our annual bike trip. They land in the middle of the biggest holiday of the year, so they may need prayers for resourcefulness to find food to eat for a few days while everything is closed! They'll be there 4 days before I join them. And prayers appreciated for protection and good times together on our bike trip starting Oct 12.
