Prayers for a Tender Heart

Sairam to You All,

Jennie and I are currently in Muddenahalli enjoying Dasara with our Beloved.  It is a truly amazing experience focusing on that divine feminine creative force existing in everyone and everything, everywhere.  Swami is also emphasizing the beauty and depth of Indian culture by providing us with many impactful cultural programs and discourses.  Hopefully, you are able to share this also through the live-stream, videos and write-ups.

We realize the following might seem like a non-sequitur but it directly relates to the love of the Mother and was inspired by something Swami mentioned in one of His recent morning chats with us.

Every day, our Sanjeevani Hospitals send out a list of the children to be operated on along with their pictures.  These children are of all ages, the oldest we have personally seen was 64, the youngest was 2 days old.  They are from all religions, backgrounds and many different countries.  The hospital staff asks that the recipients of the list take a moment to pray for the children.  There is a sample of some of the children below.

Most of us know that the power of prayer is immense.  There have been numerous studies about how this selfless act benefits others.  We have been reflecting on this.  Since Swami is who He is, why the prayers? We know it is all His will, so what is the role of our prayers?   We also know that everything He does functions on multiple levels.

You probably have already realized that our prayers help keep us focused on Swami, His mission and on who WE really are.  In effect, the prayers benefit us at least as much as the projects and people we pray for.  Swami has said if two people do the Samastha Loka, both benefit from the others prayer as well as their own.

When we open our emails in the morning and see the list from the hospitals, it has a profound effect on the rest of our day.  As we sit and look at each sweet little face and as we pray for their well-being, happiness and success in life as well as for their families, it focuses us on this wonderful journey that we are all on together.  It also shows the impact of our human effort and His Divine Will on so many; the children, their families and their villages.  This small effort focuses us on Him, His Mission, and the unity of all.

It is a statement to the patients, their families and all that know them, that they really do matter to God and humankind (us).  It reminds us that we are part of something much larger than ourselves.  This can be a great aid on our journey from I to WE and then to HE.

While we realize that Divine Will Foundation sent out a note about this prayer list a while ago and many of you are on it already, we felt inspired to reach out again to invite any of you who might not know of it to participate, if you so wish.

If you would like to receive this daily prayer list, please click the button below to fill out your name and email address.  That way we can send all your names to the hospitals in one go.  This will save the hospital staff (as well as us) time. Please do this within two weeks of your receipt of this note.  You should start receiving the list shortly thereafter.

Sending our love to you all.

Namaste,

David and Jennie
