Lessons in Primary Care from Victims of Trafficking and Abuse:
Dr. Anita Ravi is the founder of The PurpLE (Purpose: Listen & Engage) Clinic, engaging patients not usually getting care, including those who have experienced sexual trauma, exploitation or violence. Many of her patients live under constant threat of physical and emotional harm, thus shifting the clinical risk calculus that most physicians are taught in medical school. In this extraordinary talk at Exponential Medicine 2018, Dr. Ravi shares what she has learned really matters for these patients, understanding barriers and innovating new approaches to listening and designing care for vulnerable populations, including the incarcerated and homeless.
Catalyzing the Future of Healthcare
Exponential Medicine is a unique and intensive four-day experience. An incredible array of faculty, 600 selected participants, and 50 cutting edge startups in the xMed Innovation Lab come together for mainstage sessions, breakout workshops, hands-on demos, a participant unconference, and beachside bonding (from morning yoga, meditation, and art, to evening bonfires, drum circles...and even a cacao ceremony and silent disco), all unfolding at the magical Hotel del Coronado. Apply here to join us.
Cutting Edge Startups: The highly interactive Innovation Lab will feature over 50 pioneering startups and established companies, with 20 of these competing for a MEDy award (Medical Entrepreneurship & Disruption). What is your favorite healthcare company? Encourage them to apply to be part of the Innovation Lab.
