Getting an Absentee Ballot
Everyone can now vote absentee and vote it early! Here's how:

Step 2: Complete the application they send you and return it to the clerk or return it in person.

In loving memory of two long-time members of LWVGTA:
Peg Kauffman was president of LWVGTA from 1971-1973. She also served as historian, Voter editor, secretary and on other committees. Because of her energy, kindness, unassuming manner and her continued involvement in the League affairs she was given the Outstanding Service Award for 2006.
Mary Ann Force died on July 6, 2019. She was a founding member of LWVGTA in 1960 and one of the first editors of our newsletter. She was one of four members of the League sued for one million dollars by a conservative TV talk show host Dan Smoot. The newsletter article said his program was "Propaganda against the United Nations, all foreign aid, income tax" and civil rights for minorities. The article went on to say that the TV program was based on "slanted information, half truths, innuendos, and sometimes worse." The four members were defended pro bono by a Grand Rapids firm and went to the Supreme Court of the United States. The case was dismissed on the basis of freedom of speech.
Added note: This case was documented and archived by Peg Kauffman. Both Peg and Mary Ann were true champions of the League's causes.
