UMA WEEKLY UPDATE
Week of October 6, 2019

Dear UMA Families & Friends,
The first brisk days of October have passed as we move into the sixth week of school. Fall conferences, picture day, and various other events are approaching. Please plan accordingly for the following.

October 7th - Picture Day

Lifetouch took student and staff pictures Monday.  Pictures can  be ordered online at MyLifeTouch.  Photos ordered online receive a free photo book and drawstring bag.  Picture retake day is scheduled for Monday, November 4.

October 10th - Gloria at the History Theatre

UMA students have been invited by our History Theater neighbors to a free performance of “Gloria” (written by Tony Award winning playwright Emily Mann and directed by Risa Brainin). The play celebrates the life and work of Gloria Steinem. The performance for students will take place during the school day. Please check the History Theatre website for dates if you are interested in learning more about this play.

October 11th  5 - 8 pm & October 12th 10 am - 3 pm   Art Crawl

UMA will once again be a stop on St. Paul's Fall Art Crawl. Students wanting to display and sell their artwork or other item can use this registration form as their reservation. Families are encouraged to visit UMA and explore the other Art Crawl sites. Fall Conferences
Wednesday, Oct 16 1:30 - 8:30 pm
Thursday, Oct 17 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Wednesday is a half day and school ends at 12:51 pm. There is no student supervision after 12:51 pm. Students should leave campus to attend conferences with parents after 1:30 pm.

Teachers will be unavailable 5:15 - 6:00 pm during their dinner break.

6th grade families contact Mr. Dallmann and Mr. Adams if you haven't scheduled a conference yet.

7th/8th grade families will get to sign-up for a 10 minute conference time with individual teachers the day of conferences.  

High school families were sent an email with a link for conference sign-up.  Contact your student's advisor if you did not received or need to schedule a conference time.



 


 
PTO Teacher Luncheon
UMA PTO needs your help to feed our amazing faculty and staff on Wednesday, Oct. 16th to help them power through conferences and show them just how much we appreciate all they do for our students and community. Please use this Sign-Up Genius to indicate how you can help.

You can drop off your contributions on Wednesday between 9:30 and 12:20; park on Wabasha and run your items into the Main Office. Check the Sign-Up Genius for more information.

Flu Clinic-Wednesday, Oct 16 4:30-6:30 
Health staff from Hennepin Healthcare will be on site at UMA to administer flu shots to youth and adults. Bring insurance card for easy processing, cash payment accepted also.  
Wanted - Substitute Teachers
UMA is currently seeking substitute teachers to join our pool of available teachers for full or half days. We want to add individuals to our team who are flexible, creative, and adaptable to multiple student learning styles and environments. 

Please share with any friends, family or neighbors with a current teaching license. Qualified candidates should send a letter of interest, a resume, and references to opportunities@umissacademy.org.
