President's Update

Cricket is finally here!

All teams start this Saturday including our newest team (OD2's) lead by Luke Hutcherson.

I'm incredibly proud of all the handwork done by your committee, coaches and captains over the off-season. We have new sponsors, new couche
s & TV,  a charging station for those staying back at the club and a large increase in numbers.

Here's hoping our successful off-season translates to on-field success. I urge you all to make an effort to attend club events, Thursday selection nights and end of round presentation nights. Your committee puts in a lot of effort to run such a great club and I promise the more you get involved the more you'll enjoy your cricket.

Remember that we are an amateur cricket club and winning is not the only thing that matters. My goal is to provide an avenue for all of you to enjoy your cricket and I hope you all do so this season. Respect each other, respect the opposition and respect the umpires.

Past players, friends and family are always welcome t
o support our teams, with life members receiving a free drink at every home game they come to watch. For  fixtures, ladders and statistics click here.

Please take a moment to check out all of the information below. Committee, coaches and captains have put in a lot of hard work to get the club ready for a big season ahead. Any questions, please email me by clicking here.

Good luck this weekend,
Brad Forbes

Message from the Coach

The week leading into a new season always comes with an exciting anticipation (well unless you’re on a golf trip….). Pre-season has been great and with some quality additions to our club over the past few weeks we are ready to go.

As much we play cricket to score runs, take wickets and win matches there’s so much more to being a part of a club. And my encouragement for all is to involve ourselves fully with all the different facets that make our club great. After training on Thursdays before each round sides will be announced, post-match Saturday night’s game reviews and player of matches will be awarded back at the club. Plus all the fantastic social events the club puts on I’m sure 2019/20 will be a lot of fun on and off the field.

Recently at the WASTCA captains gathering we were reminded about player behaviour expectations. They talked about the deterrents and punishments on offer for when things don’t go well, my take on all of it is that we remember who we represent; our club, our team-mates, our families we go about things the right way. We are the current custodians of our game, people who are just playing our part in the cricket story, passing through and passing on the customs and traditions, let our legacy speak to our character.

Our captains will do a heap of work across the season, some you will see, much will be hidden so anyway you can help your captains out I’m sure will be appreciated. Sometimes on the field it will be a simple suggestion of a field change or bowler rotation. After play it’s staying around to help pack-up or its arriving early to help set-up. It’s letting your captain know early in the week if you’re unavailable and offering a word of support and encouragement as the season goes on.

May we follow in Richmond’s footsteps and make 2019/20 the year of the tiger.
We are bringing back the Quiz Night!

There is plenty of room for tables so get a table together with friends/family and beat your teammates to the prizes. Tables of 8 are only $80.

David Morey & Rachael Jones have been working extremely hard procuring prizes. Make sure you pre-book/pay for your table so you don't miss out by emailing David Morey here.

Check out the Facebook event here.
You may not think that these elections have much to do with sporting clubs but without the support of the City of Nedlands and City of Subiaco we would not exist. By supporting Councillors who back sporting & community groups, you ensure our viability as a cricket club as well as support for other clubs.

I urge you all to vote Leo McManus for Mayor, and Ian Argyle for the Dalkeith Ward in the City of Nedlands. Both have a track record of being extremely supportive of sporting groups. Check out their candidate sheets here: Leo McManus, Ian Argyle

Season fees are now due!

Please make sure you send your money through as soon as you can to help the club out.

If you have any questions please email our Treasurer Samantha Barker here.
Check out the changes in our Social Calendar due to fixture changes.

Our Poker Night moves a week earlier and our Past Players Day will now lead into our Christmas Party on the 21st.
The 1st XI will be playing on the 21st with all other teams having finished the week before, so please come down and bring your friends & family. We will have plenty of entertainment for all ages!

I look forward to seeing you all this Saturday for our first round of presentations!
This year the club will be running a fantasy cricket competition. The competition will start after round 1 so that new player prices can be determined.
Entry is $10 and you have to pick yourself.

If you'd like to join the competition as a non-player please email Jason Kalamaras
here.
Please show your appreciation by sending your business to our sponsors where possible.
