This year marks the 6th Annual Off Da Couch Race at the NAC!

Competitors from all over SoCal come together for the first race of the SoCal Ocean Racing Series, and kick off small paddle-craft racing in Newport Harbor. This race is open to:

All racers receive lunch and a race hat with registration. With a choice of 4 different courses to choose from, theres something for everyone to race! From the 1 mile Grom Course to the 9 mile Long Course, paddlers of all ages and abilties can find a race that suits them.

This race is named after Sam Couch, a long-time junior athlete and coach at NAC, who was born with Cystic Fibrosis. The doctors determined that inhaling saltwater mist had a powerful effect on rehydrating the lining of the lungs. Sam was one of the first coxswains at NAC and he is one of the only athletes that has competed in every watercraft that NAC has to offer at a national level. He coached the Junior Canoe/Kayak and Outrigger team and also started and built the relationship between NAC and the Project PRIDE program; an outreach program that NAC still partners with today. Sam passed away in 2014.

Head of the Charles

The Field is Set!

Registrations have been placed, and the NAC is sending 22 Juniors to compete this year at the 55th Annual Head of the Charles race! They will be racing on Sunday, October 20th. There are over 2000 entries competing in this race over the two days!

NAC is also sending a Mens Club 4+ that will be racing on Saturday, October 20th. Coach Marcel will be racing and this is his 7th time racing at the HOC!

SD International Dragon Boat Race

The NAC Masters Dragon Boat Team medaled in three divisions during the 10th Anniversary San Diego International Dragon Boat Race! And the intra-team competition in the 250 Women’s Small Boats resulted in a Silver medal for the NAC-Barracuda squad and bragging rights over the NAC-Sharks.
