Academic Advising & Class Registration for Spring 2020

WHO & WHEN: All continuing students for Spring 2020 must make an academic advising appointment with their faculty advisor or CMA Peer Advisor Sierra Stoltzfus between Oct. 14–Nov. 1
WHY: To get advising on your course schedules and to receive your pin number needed to register for classes at your advising session.
HOW: Click here to make an appointment with Sierra via Handshake. Or check your degree audit to find your faculty advisor and set up an appt with them. 

Class registration begins November 4, so make your appointment soon! 

Sundance Class of 2020 Application

Consider joining the 2020 Sundance Class, which will take place in Park City, UT during the week of January 27th–February 2nd. This amazing opportunity allows participating students to attend world premieres of films, develop closer relationships with their peers and fellow collaborators, and discuss films from morning to night. 

The cost is $3,498 + $50 registration fee.  Airfare, lodging, 15 movie tickets, and a Sundance badge will be covered. A deposit of $1,500 will be due by Nov. 1.

Coca-Cola Regal Film Competition: Final Submission: Oct. 10

It's down to the last few days! The School of Cinema and Media Arts has been invited to participate for the second year in a row in the exclusive competition that sees its winners work on the big screen! Review the program brief here. Turn in your script(s) to the CMA office for review before submission. Early submission has passed, but final submission is this Thursday, October 10, so submit your scripts soon! 

BEA Free Undergraduate Student Membership

The Broadcast Education Association (BEA), a reputable media organization, is offering free student membership to undergraduates who are passionate about electronic media and other multimedia enterprises related to research and creative endeavors. Register for your free membership to begin submitting work to existing competitions, and to attend conventions and events with BEA. Click here for full details. 

From the Trip to Walt Disney Concert Hall

Professor Schmidt's Fall Sound Design class traveled to Disney Hall on October 3 to hear the renowned LA Philharmonic Orchestra. CMA is dedicated to offering opportunities for encounters like this in which students can engage their class lectures and discussions to practical, real-life experiences.
