Posted by Keturah Hetrick on Oct. 7, 2019 A former House chief of staff and assistant secretary of commerce has struck out on his own as a lobbyist. Mike Platt registered as a lobbyist for FAIR Health through his new one-man shop Platt Strategic Consulting, which he started earlier this year. He's lobbying on the Lower Health Care Costs Act for the health-care data-collection group. Before moving to the Commerce Department in 2017, Platt spent 14 years with then-Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), working his way up to the top of her office. This isn't Platt's first pass through the revolving door: He previously worked as a lobbyist for the Recording Industry Association of America and for TechNet.
