In case you missed it, we released what was the original version of the video for Disappear last week. "But Ryan, why does such a thing exist?" - You.
Well let me explain.
When we were gearing up for the rollout of the record, we were given the ability to kinda do whatever video wise. I don't really like music videos. At all. So my idea was to toss the idea Kyle had over to those guys and let them run wild with it. I insisted that I had nothing to do with it. That was my whole thing.
I remember being at kind of one of my crazy / lunatic low points when I got the final version of the video. It dawned on me that I've masked everything I do musically with humor and deflection. When I saw this, I thought it was that all over again. I didn't want to do that with anything on Be Good. So I had to embarrassingly backtrack out of my "I don't care, do whatever" mentality and basically have them chop it to the point where it didn't really make sense.
I guess the reason I didn't want this version to come out was because when you see something for the first time, it stamps an impression. I didn't want to associate my new record with anything resembling a joke. Now that the record is out, people either like it or hate it, but aren't influenced by videos.
Either way, I'm appreciative of everyone who took the time to make this.
