Great news from MCACA. With passage of the FY2020 budget, Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs is able to move forward with its annual funding process and grant award announcements.
The Council will meet on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 10am at the MCACA offices in Lansing (300 N. Washington Square, Lansing, MI 48913). The meeting is open to the public to attend in person or via Skype. Agenda includes: a) MCACA Council Call to Order; b) FY20 Funding Plan Presentation. Once the funding plan is approved by the Council, grant awards by program and county will be distributed and posted on the MCACA website. The meeting will last 30 minutes or less with links posted within two hours after the meeting ends.
The MCACA announcement includes grant awards for: Operational Support, Project Support, Arts in Education Residency, Capital Improvements and New Leaders. Organizations awarded FY20 funding will receive a formal contract and next steps from MCACA shortly after October 18.
Announcements for Region 2 Minigrant awards will be made by the Northwest Michigan Arts and Culture Network via direct communication to minigrantees and posting to www.nwmiarts.org. Minigrant announcements will take place by 4pm on Friday, October 18.

10/17 Workshop Focuses on Tourism
Tools & Strategies for Arts & Culture
The Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network is hosting a tourism panel and training workshop on Thursday, October 17, 10am-noon, at Michigan Works, 1209 S Garfield in Traverse City. Attendance is free butregistration is required.
The workshop focuses specifically on regional tools and strategies to promote northern Michigan’s many arts and cultural assets and opportunities, as well as step by step training on the Pure Michigan platform. Speakers will include Coryn Briggs, Digital Marketing Manager at Traverse City Tourism; Amanda Wilkin, Executive Director of the Charlevoix Convention and Visitors Bureau; and, Joe Beyer, Executive Director of Michigan Legacy Art Park and former Director of Digital Initiatives for Sundance Institute.
The panel will address:
Tools & strategies to work with destination marketing organizations and regional tourism
Perspectives on working within the Grand Traverse and Little Traverse markets
Examining and expanding your organization's digital footprint
Examples of social media and promotional amplification in the public-private partnership between Crystal Mountain Resort and Michigan Legacy Art Park
Training on Pure Michigan's platform with opportunity to create a page onsite
Ample time for Q&A, discussion and sharing with presenters and participants
