Zoning Commission Recommendations Re: Potential Recreational Cannabis Businesses in Glencoe
Next Meeting on the Topic: Thursday, November 21 (Tentative date)
Following the Village Board’s request that they do so, the Zoning Commission held a public hearing on Monday, October 7. The Commission heard presentations and public comment and deliberated potential Zoning Code amendments should recreational cannabis businesses be allowed to operate in Glencoe. The Zoning Commission’s non-binding recommendations were that should the businesses be allowed, they should be considered a special use in the HF district (along Frontage Road, west of the Edens Expressway). Note that no decision has been made as to whether to allow recreational cannabis businesses in Glencoe, nor has the Village received a business license application from a potential business.
As a point of background, recreational cannabis businesses operating in Glencoe has been a topic of discussion at multiple public meetings over the course of the past few months, as state-wide legalization approaches on January 1. The process to date has focused on gathering information and feedback from the public. Up next: the Village Board will formally consider whether or not to allow recreational cannabis businesses to operate in Glencoe, and if so, where and with what regulations. Sound complicated? We've summarized the process, past meeting materials and next steps for you. Take a look here »
Should you like to give feedback on the topic, please e-mail the Village Manager's Office at info@villageofglencoe.org.

However, the program could begin earlier depending upon weather and leaf fall. The Village will share additional information with the community as the program start date approaches.
