Dear members of NCLCA,

As you know, NCLCA is a chapter of the United States Lactation Consultant Association. As such, we have been working as a an affiliated organization under the umbrella of the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition (NCBC). This past month, during an NCBC board retreat, the future of NCLCA and our relationship to USLCA was discussed.

If we are to continue in this way, we need help. We need an IBCLC to step up to the plate and take a leadership role as a chair of the NCLCA - we had sent a call and had no response. We would like to make one final plea and if we do not hear from a viable candidate, by October 31, 2019, we will shift and ease the workload by making NCLCA one of the committees of NCBC, and to no longer seek an organizational affiliation with USLCA.

We will continue providing our yearly conference and advocating for the importance of skilled lactation care as a part of the health care team as a part of this change.

We also continue to encourage our members to join USLCA individually.

If you have any questions or concerns about our decision, we would love to hear from you.

We appreciate your membership and your involvement with our organization.

If you have concerns, please feel free to reach out to our chair (Ellen) and/or Norma.

-Norma and Rebecca

Lack of support from health care providers is a common complaint voiced by breastfeeding families. This webinar will explore clinical and communication barriers to breastfeeding support and provide fundamental breastfeeding counseling concepts aimed to improve support and protection of optimal infant feeding.
