Fall Scholastic Book Fair - October 14-18 - Save the Date + Call for Volunteers

The book fair is a great time to find exciting stories for the new school-year. The Scholastic Book Fair not only provides great books it also funds the Hayhurst Library for all students.

On Tuesday evening, please join us for Books Before Bed between 6:00-7:00 PM. There will be cookies, story time and shopping at the book fair!

Volunteers Needed!

It takes a lot of folks to put this together and the kids get so excited for new books!

Run for Technology - Oct. 25 - Consent Froms Sent Home + Call for Volunteers

We love technology at Hayhurst and we believe our children need a technology curriculum in this day of age. SO, we are having our first Run for Technology fundraiser to raise money to enhance the technology curriculum at our school.

The run will be on Friday, October 25^th (weather permitting). Consent forms were sent home and we'll start collecting sponsorship donations this week.

If you care about technology at Hayhurst, here are ways you can help:

Volunteer for the day of the run – to sign up visit hayhurstpta.org or sign up in the office.
Help us find sponsors – if you know businesses that might be interested or programs that can donate or offer resources, please contact Dagmar Engstrand or Kirsten Carr.
Donate and collect donations from friends and family – donation forms will be emailed and sent home with your child next week.

Thank you for supporting our school’s technology programs.

Save the Date: Trunk or Treat - Oct. 25

Join us for a ghoulishly fun time! Wear your costumes and come trick or treat in the Hayhurst Parking Lot! There will be games, goodies, arts and crafts, dancing, a mini chess tourney, and so much more! Details and sign up sheet coming soon.

Save the Date: Hayhurst Halloween K-12 Tournament - October 27th 8 AM - 5 PM

Please join us at Hayhurst Elementary for the second Hayhurst Halloween K-12 Chess Tournament on October 27 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

This event is open to individuals of all abilities and is a great first tournament for beginning chess players. This tournament NWSRS Rated and is a qualifier for the 2020 OSCF State Championship.

Get your Halloween gear on! Special prizes for best costumes!

Save the Date & Join the Hayhurst Artisan Fair - November 9th, 10 AM - 4 PM

We will have the Artisan Fair in the fall this year. The date is November 9th, 2019 from 10 AM - 4 PM.

To participate, please see the details here (please forward this form to anyone who might be interested). There will be 10 booths set aside for students (students have to be accompanied by an adult).

Volunteer to Make the Fair Happen
Anyone interested in helping to set up, advertise, design the flier, volunteer at the day of the event, get a food vendor arranged, or anything else that you think is helpful, please contact Kirsten Carr ASAP.

Volunteers Still Needed - Breakfast & Lunch

We have no volunteers for breakfast and lunch. Even if we could get 1 or 2 volunteers for each time we could continue our sustainability program.

It is easy work and good to see how the lunch and breakfast situation works. We save hundreds of pounds of compost and recycling from the trash each week. We also save a garbage can of milk cartons and juice boxes per day!!
