Licence Plate Recognition Camera

The Club is pleased to announce that the Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) access to the lower car park is now operating.

The LPR cameras provide Members the benefit of express entry into the lower car park without the need to ‘swipe’ a membership card.

Members are invited to register details of your personal vehicles by providing licence plate and membership numbers to Club Reception in person, by phone 9998 3700 or email reception@rpayc.com.au.

Q&A
What if I have more than one car? Members may register the licence plates of multiple vehicles however, the ‘anti-passback’ setting will only permit one vehicle per member in the car park at any one time (per Parking By-Law 3(i)).
Approach speed?  The safe driving speed from the Club main entrance pillars is 5km and it is recommended that members approach at this speed to avoid the need to come to a full standstill.
Do I still need my Membership Card?  Yes, Members should always have their membership card on hand in the event that the registration plate cannot be read.

Please refer to Club By-Law #3 for more information about parking at the RPAYC.

Portopiccolo Maxi regatta and Coppa Bernetti

News from RPAYC Member,  Ludde Ingvall
We have just completed the Portopiccolo Maxi regatta and Coppa Bernetti with great success.
TOKOLOSH VII (ex-CQS) with a mixed, but mainly Italian crew and my guys from Australia, NZ, UK, Germany, Slovenia, won both events.
Team is called Tempus Fugit (Latin for ’Time Flies’) and main sponsor is Portopiccolo, which is a stunning marina and resort outside Trieste.

Next Sunday we are racing in the 51st edition of the Barcolana, where over 2.500 boats are expected on the same starting line.  Last year we had 2.688 starters…. all starting at the same time.

We will be about 15 boat between 80 and 130 ft among them.

Event draws 2 million visitors to the massive race village over 10 days with a reported 500.000 spectators on race day in the harbour and along the shoreline.

There will again be live streaming of the event on Sunday.

Sunsmart App

Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation causes wrinkles and skin and eye damage, ultimately leading to skin cancer.
UV cannot be seen or felt. It is not like the sun’s light which we see, or the sun’s warmth (infrared radiation) which we feel. Our senses cannot detect UV so it can be damaging without us knowing.

The free SunSmart app tells you when sun protection is recommended for your location using forecast information from the Bureau of Meteorology website and live UV data from ARPANSA.
