Power Shutoff in Sausalito Begins at Midnight

PSPS
The area PG&E has identified for the power shutoff
Sausalito and other areas of Southern Marin have been scheduled for a Public Safety Power Shutoff that will begin at midnight on Wednesday, October 9. PG&E expects all power in affected areas for be shut off by 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The shutoff affects approximately 10,000 PG&E customers in Southern Marin, including over 3,500 in Sausalito.

PG&E will restore power to affected areas as soon as possible based on conditions. The high winds necessitating the shutoff are expected to diminish by Thursday afternoon.

Traffic lights in Sausalito will not function during the power shutoff. Drivers should treat an inoperable traffic light as a 4-way stop sign.

Sausalito residents are encouraged to prepare for a shutoff that may exceed 48 hours. Preparations to consider include:
  • Charge all mobile devices in advance of the power shutoff
  • Plan for any medical needs like medications that need to be refrigerated or medical devices that require power
  • Learn how to manually open your garage door
  • Sign up for emergency alerts from Alert Marin
  • Sign up for Nixle alerts from the Sausalito Police
  • Prepare to evacuate or shelter in place in the event of a wildfire
Additional information may also be available from the PG&E wildfire alerts webpage, though the site has been overwhelmed with traffic.
