Children's Teachers Training

Calling all teachers! Have you ever wondered how to be more effective in your classroom? Have you wondered if the Gospel message is getting through to your students? Do you have trouble with the simple routines of being a classroom teacher? We want to help! Please join us Saturday, November 9 for a teacher training here at Oakwood. Please Welcome Our New Staff Assistant, Tricia Sharp!
Oakwood Staff
Tricia Sharp joined the Oakwood staff as the Staff Assistant on Monday, October 7. She will work with Linda Bonness, the Administrative Coordinator, and will provide much needed administrative support for the growing Oakwood community. Tricia has been an integral part of Oakwood for many years and has served in various capacities included leading music in worship, leading children's music on Sunday mornings, leading music for Youth Group and a YG girls Bible study, as well as helping her husband, Doug, with their small group. Tricia will be working on the bulletins and announcements, as well as help to keep our Facebook page and website updated. She will also assist with customer service and provide support for a variety of daily administrative tasks. We are excited to have Tricia join our staff and hope you will welcome her warmly. Youth Group at PSU Women's Volleyball
October 11
On Friday, October 11, at 6:45 pm, the Youth Group will have our Penn State Women's Volleyball Game and Creamery Night! Our group will be cheering on the Penn State Women's Volleyball Team as they compete against Big 10 rival, the University of Maryland. It should be a great match this year! The game is at 7:30 pm, but we will meet at 6:45 pm on the steps of Rec. Hall. After the game, we will walk/carpool to the Creamery, which is located in the East Parking Deck on Curtin Rd. Depending on the number of sets played, the game will be over about 9:00 pm - 9:30 pm and we will be finished at the Creamery at 10:00pm. Operation Christmas Child
Fill a Shoe Box by November 24
Jesus uses your gifts! Fourteen year old Anna in Togo received a shoe box and decided to take the 12-lesson discipleship program. Anna learned about Jesus and began to question why she had believed Christianity was a lie. Her father was the local witch doctor who felt Christians angered the gods. Anna accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Now she wants to honor Him. "I don't like the way I lived before I accepted Jesus." she said. "I used to disobey my parents, but then learned that Jesus wants us to obey our parents. I used to fail in school, but I now realize I am smart and can do well."
The 2019 Operation Christmas Child Missions Project provides all of us with a simple way to show love to needy children across the world with a shoe box filled with gifts. Gifts can be health-related like combs and toothbrushes, or educational like pens, pencils, erasers and paper and some are fun like balls, jump rope, dolls or stuffed animals. Each box provides an opportunity for a child to hear Jesus' message of love. Please consider filling a shoe box as a family and share the love of Jesus with a child!
