 Serving Faithfully
The fall weather is upon us and we'll begin to see leaves falling to the ground. Let's remember those leaves will one day be renewed in a new season. This is how we love on our Ladies of Grace; our faithful volunteers who serve and are passionate about helping these women take the steps necessary to be transformed. We are honored to share the story of Silvia, who's been a dedicated mentor to our ladies and a part of our street ministry for many years.
"My name is Silvia. I have the honor and privilege to serve with Grace Ministry of Helping Hands for almost 10 years as a volunteer and as a mentor. For me, this ministry reaches and matches what my heart cries out. My involvement with this organization all these years has helped me to grow personally and emotionally in order to open my mind to the devastation from prostitution, addictions, co-dependency, poverty, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and other issues that victims go through.
As volunteers and mentors, we get our hearts broken many times by the outcome of the decisions these women are making. We are going to keep helping them, providing ministry in the streets, loving on them because there is a chance they return to the place we found them. Somehow all of those things make me want to be able to be there for them more and more. I know that eventually they return to us, and after a while we are able to see their lives changed.
We see the women’s lives changed through Grace Ministry with children coming back into their lives and families that were once broken have reunited with the Grace of God.
With God at the center of this organization’s mission, I believe it is the third strong cord that is needed to be there for these women. Seeing them smile, move on, and have a fresh start makes my world better.
I am so honored to be able to witness all the labor that Jan, Kathleen, and the street ministry team have done to shape and transform lives everyday with the grace of God and the community, too. I am very thankful for this organization. It's given me this incredible opportunity to serve, to grow, and especially to give back to others."
