Scarecrows on Hertel Participation expands in second year
Over twenty scarecrows have been installed along Hertel Avenue between Delaware and Parker Avenue and organizers of the project were delighted with the increase in participation by businesses and area residents this year.
"Our goal is to support all of the wonderful events taking place in the Hertel business district this fall, in particular the popular Halloween on Hertel on Saturday, October 26th." according to NBO board member Barb Piazza who chaired this year's organizing committee.
Committee members are in the process of photographing and cataloging all of the scarecrows and will post them on Facebook this week. Anyone still interested in making a scarecrow can contact info@northbuffalo.org. There are still plenty of spaces available.
The project is supported by P.S. Accessories, Daisy’s Doghouse, Fashion Lab NY, North Park Community School, Say Yes to Education, Hertel Business Association, the North Buffalo Organization, and the North Buffalo Farmers Market.
"We are looking forward to growing this event," Ms Piazza said, "and establishing it as a way to bring the community together as well as to draw more commerce to North Buffalo businesses.
This coming Saturday the Market features Groundwork Market Garden, Common Roots Farm, Always Something Farm, Kubed Root Micro Greens, Buffalo Cheese Traders, and Roots Coffee & Tea. Also, see announcement below regarding Flu Shots at the North Park Community School from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Bring your insurance card.
