Happy Friday letter getters!

I have a few announcements today that are similar to the ones I put out in the last letter:

1. Check out the relaunched Southern/alpha. If you've been looking for a place to learn more about what other local founders/entrepreneurs are doing to launch and grow their businesses, this is the place to find it.

2. Our local Slack, StartupNash, is at 150 members! Please join in if you are in the Nashville area and want to pitch a startup idea, or share a weekly win with our supportive community.

3. We just launched a free mentor matching service for the StartupNash Slack community. I've gotten a lot of interest in people seeing professional mentorship, and lots of people who want to give back. You can participate here. It doesn't matter how long you've been reading these emails, if you are interested, I'd love to have you.

Eamon Baghern,
Founder of ReadyBase

Self-described tech nerd/software engineer Eamon Baghern started a staffing agency called ReadyBase after seeing lots of problems with communication between recruiters and software developers. ReadyBase helps companies build developer teams from the ground up by using actual software engineers as part of the hiring process. Eamon is starting to see the process work in a big way. "The overwhelming majority of our talent is inbound," he said in our interview. "Technically, we don't have any recruiters on staff, but we're hiring our first one ever!"

Meet your five minute mentor, Eamon Baghern.
If you've ever been a part of the dev community, we get spammed incessantly by many recruiters that have no context on the job they're trying to fill. We're hoping to solve that problem by connecting talent using subject matter experts. Also, we think we can arm the dev community with tools that are better for them at passive job searches to help them find the right role for them. Instead of talent having to apply for jobs, we want companies to reach out directly to our talent. That way, the talent can designate exactly what they're looking for and let it come to them when the right company is hiring.

Treating people right, no matter the cost, always works out for the best. No specific example, but I've always found some sort of event that happened that I've been thankful to have that person in my corner later down in life, all because I treated them well in the beginning.

Writing in a journal. On a good day or bad day, it's always nice to articulate the different decisions that are weighing on one's mind. When I look back at the choices I made and in the mental state I was in, it lets me guide future choices better based on historic, personal data.

As a founder, you should strive to be bored and get to a point where you don't have anything to do. If you constantly have long hours or are working your butt off, you'll never have time to actually think about the business and tackle new problems. Most founders start a company so they can own their job. I started my company so I ultimately won't have to work as hard.

N/a - no answer.

Most recent achievement: Joining the EO catalyst program at the entrepreneur center. It's been an amazing experience so far.
