Youth Leader Update 17/10/19

Dear Youth Leader,

Feels like the end of the year is just around the corner as we celebrate Mission Month. With Pope Francis calling this October to be an extraordinary month of mission, it’s an opportunity to keep our mission at the heart of all that we do. This month we invite you  to join us as we commission our pilgrims for Perth as well as popping a few future invites into the calendar for 2020!

God Bless,
The AOY team

PS Bishop Barron is offering his 1 hour episode on (the now Saint) John Henry Newman free in the month of October due to his canonisation. HERE
Join us at the ACYF Commissioning
Not everyone is able to come to Perth but we would love the Melbourne Catholic Community to join our Commissioning event commencing at St Augustine’s in Bourke Street Melbourne at 1.30pm as we pilgrimage across the city to St Patrick’s Cathedral before groups depart for ACYF in December. Come and support the group before we depart for Perth. For more details or to RSVP contact us on 9287 5565 or email.
Hobart bound!
Hot off the press are the details for the Australian Catholic Youth Ministry Convention in 2020. What are we on about? ACYMC is the national youth ministry training convention for those in youth ministry. It is facilitated by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and next year we are headed to Hobart from 9-11 July at St Mary’s Catholic College. Stay tuned for details in the new year about how YOU can join us in Tassie!
Rise is coming
We are super excited to announce the date and location for Rise 2020. After such an amazing turnout of 1000 young people at this year’s Rise in Broadmeadows, we can’t wait to move it all east! We look forward to seeing everyone at Emmaus College in Vermont on Saturday 21 March from 10am – 6pm! All the details and our huge line up will be released soon so keep an eye out on our social media for announcements!
2020 New youth leaders camp
It may seem strange but it’s time to start planning ahead for a big year in 2020. To help you to plan and form your new leaders (tap them on the shoulder now!) we invite you to mark your diary with a non-removable pen and save the date for the 2020 Foundations in Youth Ministry Camp from 21-23 February. This camp will help you build a confident leadership team in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Bookings will kick off next month.
You are invited to a weekend of prayer, silence and guided meditations together with the Carmelites, Dominican Sisters of St Cecilia, Nazareth Sisters, MGLs and the Leaven of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Open to single women aged 18-35yo. Fri 25 - Sun 27 October in Camberwell. Details
Favourite Youth Ministry resources!
Website: Recently there has been a lot of material around Christus Vivit, the post Syndal exhortation. Here are a few resources that we’d
like to share with you all. Great resource full of other articles and summaries all stored in one place
Book: If you like it old school, then you can borrow a printed copy! Our library has hard copies of Christus Vivit available to borrow, it is also available online.
Video: You can also check out some recorded webinars on unpacking the Synod and exhortation.
